This is the note I sent to work. Itapos;s a little different from my usual post here, huh? I will work in commentary as warranted.
I am happy to report that I am at the end of the my four prescribed cycles of chemotherapy, and that no additional chemo is needed. I talked to my oncologist today, and she says that although the mass is still there, the scan has indicated that it is ldquo;PET negative, rdquo; which I believe means that the cancer is no longer active.

Ultimately, I am reporting that all is going according to plan, which is certainly a good thing, but I must admit the anxiety of past few days has been strong in terms of waiting for the test results. Although I am only a quarter Irish (my paternal grandmotherrsquo;s maiden name was Mc____, descended from Scots-Irish immigrants from R____ Island), I still seem to suffer from a ldquo;morbid Irish imaginationrdquo; when it come to these things.

It is always good to rep being Irish Catholic. Gives your "points" that come in handy later. But seriously... Last week sucked
The next step in the process will be radiation. I have already had an initial consultation with my radiologist. The treatment should take around three and half weeks, and will again be downtown at UMMC. I will be going in Monday through Friday and the appointments will be scheduled for after school. The radiologist believes that, due to the low dosage of my prescribed treatment and other factors, my side effects should be minimal (fatigue, some throat irritation) and that I should have no problem working through the treatment. As the effect of the treatment accumulates, however, I may need more time off of work. If this is the case, I will talk to my father about coming in some more, as he has had a good experience so far.
Itapos;s true. My retired dad comes in and covers my classes.

I will be meeting with the radiologist again on Wednesday, October 15th, ourtesting day, to set up my schedule for treatment. I noticed I was left off the schedule for that day in terms of duties. In any case, I would ask to be excused from duties on that day.
I totally knew it was cool, but you have to act humble. In fact, "humiltiy" is ourbig theme of the year.

Words cannot express how grateful and thankful I am for all that the community of the schoolhas done for me during this difficult time. It has been essential in keeping my outlook positive and has given me the strength to keep going throughout all of this.

Itapos;s alway hard to write this part without talking about God and Jesus, but I think I managed.
