So do any of you techie types know anything about the whole "TV going digital" thing in Feb 2009?

My understanding is that you will only need to get a digital converter box if you DO NOT have cable.

So my question is: if you do not have cable, will the digital converter box mean you will no longer need an antenna to get decent reception?

Currently I get the most basic cable just so I can get a clear version of my local channels. If a converter box will give me clear local channels, then Iapos;d love to be able to quit paying $20 a month for the channels Iapos;m supposed to be able to get free.
